Farmers in Madikeri find relief from land auctions through one time settlement scheme

Twenty-one farmers in Madikeri, who faced land auctions due to unpaid loans, found relief through a ‘One Time Settlement’ scheme. Excessive interest and hardships like poor harvests and the pandemic had made repayment difficult. Protests by the Kodagu Farmers Association led to negotiations with the bank, resulting in reduced interest rates and the successful clearance of all debts.
