Uttar Pradesh: Cops make suspects swear over Ganga jal in Etah; declare them ‘innocent’

In a UP police station, suspects in a theft case were made to swear on Ganga jal to prove their innocence, leading to their declaration as ‘innocent.’ A video of the incident sparked criticism, prompting a fresh probe. The complainant, dissatisfied with the ‘ruling,’ reported the matter to higher authorities. Jewellery worth Rs 10 lakh and cash were stolen.
