Female doctor ‘assaulted’ by drunk patient at Mumbai hospital

In central Mumbai, a female resident doctor at LTMG Hospital was assaulted by a drunk patient early Sunday. The patient, who required stitches, became violent when the doctor removed some cotton from his injury. The Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) reported significant security lapses, urging immediate action. The police are investigating the incident, aiming to charge the assailant under the state’s Prevention of Violence against Medicare Service Person Act. This attack has occurred amid a broader strike by resident doctors in public medical schools, protesting the rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata.
