Xherdan Shaqiri calls time on Switzerland career after 125 caps

Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri, currently playing for Chicago Fire in the United States, has announced his retirement from international football. The 32-year-old player has earned an impressive 125 caps with the Swiss national team, making him the second most-capped player after his teammate Granit Xhaka, who has 130 caps. Shaqiri’s international career began in March 2010 when he was just 18 years old. Throughout his tenure with the national team, he represented Switzerland at four World Cups and three European Championships, showcasing his talent and dedication to his country.
