Thane police booked five for extortion, casteist remarks

The police in Thane district, Maharashtra, have filed a case against five individuals for attempting to extort Rs 17 crore from a developer involved in the redevelopment of a slum colony in Badlapur. The accused, who also allegedly received Rs 2 lakh from the builder, reportedly used casteist slurs against certain members of the slum community.
